This Springfield 1873 .45–70 trapdoor has a 36–5/8” round barrel that has a blade front sight and an original adjustable ladder rear sight. The bore is very dark, with only faintrifling remaining and pitting throughout. The P grade walnut stock has some scattered usage marks and a faint inspector’s cartouches can be seen. Metal components have developed mottled brown patina. The breech block is stamped with the standard "U.SMODEL 1873". The lock plate bears the spread eagle and "U.S. SPRINGFIELD.” Length of pull is 13–1/4”, Overall 52-1/2”, weight: 7.08 lbs. Condition: Fair. Maker is Springfield Armory. Note:This gun is missing approximately 11” of the wood from the rear barrel band forward including the front barrel band there is also a wood splice from the rear to the front barrel band. This gun is also missing the swivel mounts on the underside of the stock. There has been a homemade pistol grip added to this gun. The trigger guard has been cut down to accommodate the pistol grip. There is a chip of the wood missing on the left side of the tang. SOLD: AS-IS
