U.S. Model Springfield 1873 Trapdoor Carbine
Description: Serial #123601, .45-70, 22” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. The barrel, breech, and lock have an overall dark, plum-brown patina with scattered spots of mild freckling and some silvering at the muzzle, as well as along some of the high edges and projections. The sling bar and ring have an overall pewter gray patina, and a Model 1879, “C” marked carbine sight is fitted. The stock has added finger grooves along the forend, and scattered handling marks and small blemishes throughout the added oil finish. There is a vertical bruise on the left side of the wrist, the cartouche is visible, but not legible, and there is a rack number on the underside of the wrist: “R/3”. There is a vacant sling swivel hole on the belly of the buttstock, and an empty stock compartment. This is a nice example of a Model 1873 Carbine and rates good-very good condition overall.
