Description:
29-1/2 inch round barrel chambered in 45-70 Govt. caliber. Bore has some shine with a few light scattered spots of roughness but may benefit from a good cleaning as well. Barrel is a brown/gray patina with good traces of blue along the wood. Action and side plate are a gun metal gray patina with hints of blue coming through. "U.S.SPRINGFIELD" and the Eagle are kind of light. Buttplate and triggerguard are a brown/gray. There is a "27" behind the lower tang. Could be a rack number. A faint cartouche on the left side of the wrist. Buffington rear sight and the original blade front. 2 barrel bands. Wood has numerous marks dings and gouges. Cleaning rod is present. 292k serial number made in 1885. This one has that "been there and done that look to it" but still has years of service left in it.
