US Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Single Shot Service Rifle .45-70 Gov't 32" Barrel w/Bayonet, Dated to 1887 ***SOLD***
Description: ***SOLD*** US Springfield Trapdoor Model 1884 US service rifle, dated to 1887. This rifle has all of the hallmark features of an 1884 Model Trapdoor; the bolt is marked Model 1873, which is a correct and original characteristic for this rifle, according to various professional catalogue sources. The rifle is in excellent overall condition considering its age, with a very nice stock, only small areas of minor dings in areas, as shown. The hardware still sports what appears to be its original blue finish, as shown, with some areas of wear, to be expected on a gun of this vintage. The rear sight appears to have some marring on the windage adjustment knob, and this knob does not appear to make any adjustments properly. The trapdoor action is solid and locks up nicely, and the bore is in superb condition for its age, with only small areas of minor surface roughness. The lock plate has very nice solid lockup for each hammer notch. A period correct bayonet is included with the rifle. Please refer to the photos prior to purchase. This is a wonderful example of a highly collectible US service rifle, don't miss out! No FFL required unless otherwise required by state law. Proof of age required. Shipping $80.00 / UPS
