FIRST YEAR Antique Production U.S. SPRINGFIELD 1892 KRAG Bolt Action RIFLE .30-40 Used in the Spanish- & Philippine-American War!
Description: FIRST YEAR Antique Production U.S. SPRINGFIELD 1892 KRAG Bolt Action RIFLE .30-40 Used in the Spanish- & Philippine-American War! Here we present an antique U.S. Springfield Krag-Jorgensen Model 1894 Bolt Action Rifle, made in 1894. Names after its inventors, Norwegian Royal Artillery officer Ole Hermann Johannes Krag and civilian Erik Jorgensen, the Krag-Jorgensen rifle was the first small caliber smokeless powder repeating long arm to be adopted by the U.S. Army. This rifle also marked the beginning of the change from large caliber/low muzzle velocity ammo to smaller caliber/higher energy rounds for military applications. Fifty-three different models were tested and rejected before the Army’s 1892 adoption of the Krag-Jorgensen. The Krag would first see service during the Spanish-American War—the “Splendid Little War” as Original Rough Rider Teddy Roosevelt called it. It would then see action during the related but far more distant Philippine-American War before being replaced (at least amongst the front line troops) by the Springfield Model 1903. This is a rare opportunity to own a really early example! The overall condition is near fine. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright with nice rifling. With the serial number being “487”, we have one of the lowest numbers you may ever find! The left side of the stock has a visible cartouche with 2 more underneath the stock. A “splendid little” Krag! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 30 inches. Caliber: .30-40 Krag Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2450 #20790 SOLD Antique: Yes |
