Springfield Armory ~ M1922 ~ .22 Long Rifle
Description: The Springfield Model of 1903 was the standard-issue military rifle of the United States from 1903 to 1936 (and thereafter used as a military sniper rifle into the 1970s). In the aftermath of the First World War, the US chose to contract Springfield Armory for rifles to be built using the M1903 pattern of rifle but chambered in the affordable .22 Long Rifle cartridge. These rifles were first built in 1918-1919, before the contract was stopped due to inadequate quality of deliveries. The design was revisited by a board of designers, and thus the Springfield Armory Model 1922 rifle was born. This example is from July of 1929, according to the barrel stamp, and is in pretty good shape overall. The wood shows some normal wear. The metal is also worn some, but there is no visible rust. The action is smooth and the bore is clean and bright. No box or case is included. .22 Long Rifle Chambers: .22 Long Rifle Metal Condition: Good Wood Condition: Good Bore Condition: Bright Barrels: 24" barrel Triggers: Grooved trigger Stock Dimensions: 13" LOP Fore End: Plain oiled walnut Butt Pad: "SA mark on butt stock, metal butt pad Weight: 9 lbs 3 oz Sights: "Adjustable rear peep, hooded front Item Location: Kearney, NE Price: $1,099.99 Contact Seller |
