Description: 1880s Antique MAYNARD Model 1882 Rifle 25-25 STEVENS SINGLE SHOT Tang Sight Neat Tip Up Single Shot, Single Action Rifle! Here we present an antique Maynard Patent Rifle in .25-25, originally made by Massachusetts Arms Co. circa the 1880s and rebored by Stevens A&T Co. This would have been a contender against such other popular rifles as Winchester’s Model 1885. Chambered thusly it would have been a great rifle for small game or target shooting. The top of the octagonal section of barrel is marked “REBORED & RIFLED BY J. STEVENS A&T. CO. CHICOPEE FALLS MASS.” This one is equipped with a tang-mounted rear peep sight. There is a blank fitted into the dovetail where a barrel mounted rear sight may have been and another dovetail nearer the breach. These may have been for various rear sight configurations or they may have been cut for scope mounts and one of those very thin, straight-tubular early optics. A very neat rifle! The overall condition is Fine. The action is strong, and the bore is bright with nice rifling. Great original blue finish and case colors. Own the original!
