Another “ESTATE” firearm listing brought to you from Dust 2 Dollars who prides themselves on showing the complete gun in high quality pictures along with a detailed description for your consideration. D2D has completed over 35,000 offerings during the past 22 years of business! We offer you an “ANTIQUE” J Stevens A&T Co. Tip Up Model 2 Gallery Rifle in .32 Ideal Caliber. This is an “Antique” which requires no FFL transfer and will ship directly to you “where allowed”. The Stevens Company was founded in 1864 by the toolmaker Joshua Stevens located in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. Based on the marking this Sporting rifle was manufactured between 1886 and 1895 which makes this rifle at least 127 years old. It has been sitting in a collection since the 1950’s until now. These rifles are sometimes difficult to figure out the exact version – model they are. We believe this one is a model 2 Gallery rifle. The left side of the barrel is marked; J. STEVENS CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A. PAT. SEPT. 6 1894”. The lower flat below the receiver line is marked “X 2 32ID / 34005. The bottom of the barrel is marked “14”. The serial number 34005 is matching on the barrel, receiver, trigger guard, butt plate and barrel release. It wears a 26 inch barrel that has a very fine bore that shown light frosting with no pitting. The original bluing on the barrel is in very fine condition with some marks, dings and a few small areas of light surface pitting. It retains the original Nickel finish on the receiver that shows some flaking but overall is in excellent condition considering the age. The butt stock is solid with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is one gouge on the bottom that is about an inch long as shown in the pictures. As pictures the original crescent butt plate finish show flaking and overall is in good condition. The front Rocky Mountain sight is in fine condition as the combination rear sight. There is a fixed peep in the adjustable part that has not been drilled out. It is the original size still and most were made larger over the years. The slide is adjustable by way of loosening the set screw which is still present. This is a very fine example of these early tips up rifles that are not easily found all original after more than a century of life. Many of our estate firearms have been stored for some time and a thorough cleaning and inspection is recommended. This will be shipped fully insured UPS Ground to you where allowed for $75. It will be shipped in a double walled foam lined cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe. Payment to be made by USPS Money Order or Cashier’s Check. All firearms come with a 3-day inspection from D2D’s. SOLD Antique: Yes |
