Scarce Stevens No. 418 Walnut Hill Jr. Falling Block Rifle .22 long rifle
Description: Stevens No. 418 Walnut Hill Jr. Falling Block Rifle serial #15, 22 LR, 26” heavy tapered round barrel. The rifle is equipped with a blade front sight, the rear sight has been blanked, and a Lyman tang sight with aperture disc. Mounted to the target block is a Lyman 438 Field scope with crosshair reticle and a Lyman tang sight with aperture disc. Scope is attached with screw mounts so the scope can be easily removed in order to use the tang sight Condition: This rifle has a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains about 95% original blue with a small ding on the right edge of the muzzle (not on the crown), scattered speckles of light oxidation, and some light handling marks. The lever is toning to gray with generous remnants of original case-hardened finish in the protected areas. The frame retains about 95% original case-hardened finish with the rear of the lower tang toning to gray and otherwise strong case-hardened colors throughout. The barrel and frame markings are crisp. The smooth walnut pistolgrip buttstock and semi-beavertail forend rate about excellent and has a light coat of period added finish and some expected light handling marks. The rifle is equipped with a blade front sight, the rear sight has been blanked, and a Lyman tang sight with aperture disc. Mounted to the target block is a Lyman 438 Field scope with crosshair reticle and dim & hazy but serviceable optics retaining about 95% original blue with some mild flaking to brown patina on the ocular and objective bells and some light handling marks. This is a wonderful example of these scarce Stevens target rifles. A rifle that can be used with or without the scope mounted using inexpensive 22 long rifle ammunition!
