A fun little rifle that brings back memories!

Here we present a Stevens-Maynard Long Rifle .22 made circa the mid-20th century.

David Higginbotham in his article on guns shares his personal thoughts with us about the Stevens-Maynard Jr. Rifle:

“The Stevens Maynard Jr .22 rifle was part of another generation. Before videos games or go-karts. When young boys, for fun, grabbed their rifle, wandered through the woods and shot cans or killed squirrels. Though it was a tedious design to use, a lever action single shot, it was relatively safe to use. Today, kids, grownups, and maybe even shooters can only imagine what that was like… The Stevens Maynard Junior isn’t a gun as much as it is a reminder of a time when boys ran wild—a reminder that not so long ago, in a time before Airsoft and Xbox, the world was a very different place.”

It was Stevens Arms that introduced the .22 LR. When the .22 LR was combined with the engineering savvy of Edward Maynard, a 19th Century firearms leader, you get the Stevens-Maynard Jr. LR .22. The Jr. was produced in 1912 and sold for a mere three dollars! 

The overall condition is fair. The action is strong, but the lever sags a little. The bore is dim. The top of the barrel reads “STEVENS-MAYNARD JR/22 LONG RIGLE” clearly. A neat little rifle for display in the game room!
