Here we have a pristine Mannlicher Schoenauer PREMIER GRADE Model 1960 MC Carbine in the very rarely seen .280 Remington caliber built in 1961.  The Premier Grade is heavily factory engraved with 3 deeply carved game animals (Elk on the floor plate, antelope on trigger guard, and deer on action ring), profuse and deeply cut oak leaf motif on action and bolt handle, and fine English type scroll and fancy borders rounding out the décor.  A VERY RARE FACTORY CARVED STOCK SHOWING DEEPLY CARVED OAK LEAF FROM BUTT TO MUZZLE AND A BULL MOOSE GAME SCENE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BUTT STOCK PUTS THIS RIFLE IN THE ULTRA-RARE CATEGORY OF MANNLICHER SCHOENAUER RIFLES, ESPECIALLY WHEN CONSIDERING THE RARITY OF THE .280 REMINGTON CHAMBERING.  THE RIFLE REMAINS IN 99% FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH NO FIELD MARKS OR SIGNS OF USE, UNALTERED SINCE LEAVING THE FACTORY.  The 20” carbine length barrel has a perfect 10 out of 10 bore, is mounted with a ramped/hooded front sight and a 2-leaf rear folding sight regulated to 300 yards.  The action is mounted with a masterfully engineered quick-detachable scope mount with 1” rings that allows the removal and replacement of the period Redfield 2 3/4x scope without losing zero. The scope has clear optics with a heavy post and light cross hair reticle.  The scope mount has see through rings, a useful feature not yet on the market at the time this rifle was made.  The scope mount and rings are beyond amazing.  This is a great asset on a hunting rifle and is period to the rifle in every way. The famous Mannlicher rotary magazine holds 5 rounds and is quickly emptied with the push of a button.  The bottom plate rotates for magazine removal.  The double-set trigger is crisp and breaks with a half-pound pull when set for the shot.  The screws are perfect, and the bolt cycles smooth as butter.  The bolt safety and side safety both function as designed.  The wood has the original factory finish with only a few very light handling marks.  It does not appear that this rifle has received any real use in the last 64 years of existence.  The checkering is sharp as new, and the butt terminates in the factory plate.  Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles are very sought after and the Premier Grade is the very top of the line factory engraved offering that will only go up in value as you enjoy it use.  In decades of traveling to find unique firearms to offer my clients I have never seen another factory carved Premier Grade Mannlicher, nor has any of my dealer or collector friends.  None have seen the Mannlicher in the .280 Remington chambering either, a round capable of taking any North American game animals, as well as African plains game.  You won’t find anything like this for sale in today’s market.  If you want the best of the best Mannlicher carbine to add to your collection don’t hesitate or she will be in someone else’s gun room.  Please call if you want to own this one!  Thanks for looking.
