Description:
Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “BLACK POWDER ONLY-INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE READ BEFORE USE”. The left shoulder of the barrel is marked with the serial number “1195”. The right shoulder of the barrel is marked “THOMPSON?CENTER ARMS / ROCHESTER NEW HAMPSHIRE”, “.50 CAL.”, “HAWKEN”, and “COUGAR”. The right side of the buttstock contains a medallion that shows a cougar perched on a rock and reads “HAWKEN / COUGAR”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade that is dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a “U” notched leaf sight adjustable for windage that is screwed to an elevation adjustable base which is screwed into the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The one-piece half-stock is smooth wood with a straight grip, straight comb, cheekpiece, and a crescent alloy buttplate. There are just a few light infrequent marks from handling. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures approximately 14” and 12 7/8” from the triggers to the back of the crescent alloy buttplate.  The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. This gun shows no significant imperfections, only barely perceptible handling marks that are mostly concentrated on the trigger guard. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about 99% Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The set trigger makes the trigger pull very light and crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
