Attractive Swiss Military K31 Rifle, made 1944, with externally matching numbers, beechwood stock, military sling, bright bore, correct manual mechanics, and Waffenfabrik Bern target sights.
Description:
Standard Waffenfabrik Bern K31 Swiss Military rifle, cal. 7.5x55 Swiss, with straight-pull action manufactured from 1933-1958, this example SN: 800244, made 1944, with 25.67-inch barrel and orange-blonde beechwood stock. W/F Bern globe/post front sight mounted over military base and the original front sight blade. Tangent rear sight graduated from 1-15. Full serial number on the left side of receiver, repeated on top of the bolt and on the bottom of the magazine; the last three digits “465” on the left side of the barrel shank. Detachable W/F rear sight allowing fine-tuned click-adjustable windage/elevation changes, no modifications made to receiver, with rotatable Centra-style diopter insert, this one fixed in place (does not turn easily and did not want to force). Beechwood handguard and stock, not disassembled, the latter with an acceptance mark on the right side of the buttstock, the left side with an inletted brass plaque inscribed "Hofer Max 35". Military sling, markings not legible.
Condition:
Near EXC original blue on metal components to include W/F Bern sights. Comparable condition in-the-white parts to include bolt and cocking ring. VG stock retaining most of its original varnish, numerous handling marks and scuffs, particularly around the action and near butt. Near mirror bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. Dark oil soaked sling with added and now separating leather repair at one end.
