DESCRIPTION
This Weatherby Mark V in .460 Weatherby Magnum is far more than a standard Safari Grade rifle. Based on information provided by both the consignor and Weatherby, it appears to be a one-of-a-kind Custom Shop rifle built in early 2007.
The rifle was reportedly custom ordered by Thomas Vining after meeting directly with Roy Weatherby during the Sports World Inc. open house in Tulsa in 2006. Mr. Vining stated that Roy Weatherby personally assisted with this build, along with several other custom rifles commissioned after that visit. Factory research confirms the rifle left Weatherby in February 2007 as a Safari Grade rifle, but multiple details indicate it received substantial Custom Shop upgrades beyond standard Safari Grade configuration.
Notable custom features include:

• Engraved floorplate featuring a Cape buffalo with gold inlay
• Bolt engraved with Thomas Vining's name
• Checkered bolt knob
• High-grade walnut stock with figure well above typical Safari Grade examples
• Threaded 26" barrel with barrel band sling mount
• Overall length approximately 46.5"

According to Weatherby, both the engraved bolt and gold-inlaid floorplate were features handled exclusively through their Custom Shop. Weatherby staff also noted that while they had seen similar rifles, they had not encountered another example with the Cape buffalo inlay configuration.
Although no formal factory letter is available, Weatherby advised that every detail of this rifle indicates it is a unique Custom Shop rifle and one of a kind.
The rifle includes the original manual, a Cabela's "Bullet-Proof" Metal Aluminum Double Gun Safari Case, and 100 rounds of factory Weatherby ammunition (ships separately):

• 40 rounds of Weatherby .460 Weatherby Magnum 450gr X bullets
• 20 rounds of Weatherby .460 Weatherby Magnum 450gr Triple Shock
• 40 rounds of Weatherby .460 Weatherby Magnum 500gr Round Nose

The rifle presents in excellent overall condition and is reported to have never been fired. The custom engraving is crisp and clear, the gold inlay work is pristine, and the high-grade walnut stock shows the quality craftsmanship expected from Weatherby's Custom Shop.
