Weatherby MK V, Made in West Germany, 7mm Weatherby Magnum
Description: Beautiful Weatherby Mark V in 7mm Weatherby Magnum, Manufactured in 1961 in West Germany. I purchased this Weatherby many years ago at the Las Vegas Antique Arms Show at the Sarah Hotel Space Center. I fell in love with the beautiful grain in the stock. When I bought it, the finish was all crackled and needed help but I could see how beautiful it could be. I took it to the range to sight it in and was pleased with the groups that averaged around an inch. About ten years ago, I took it to my gunsmith, J. Sip and Sons Custom Guns, and had Justin restore the stock with a hand rubbed oil finish. It has the original Weatherby recoil pad. Justin also recut the checkering and rust blued the barrel. If you look closely at the photos, you can see the thinning of the bluing on the floorplate and the bolt shroud. These areas were not restored because they were not that worn and I was okay with how they looked. It has a perfect Leupold Vari X III 4.5-14 X 40 matte finish scope mounted in the classic mounts made by Maynard Buehler of Orinda, California. This rifle was made in West Germany in 1961 and the bolt is numbered to the receiver. It is a beautiful example of an early Weatherby Mark V in a great caliber. The 7mm Weatherby Magnum has great ballistics and with the appropriate bullets, it is capable of taking any game in North America. It would be a great addition to any collection.
