Weatherby
Description: WEATHERBY, Southgate CA. FN MAUSER .300WM So as not to be confused!! There are only 5 FN Weatherbys listed here! These earlier FN Mauser "pre-Mark V" rifles, produced in Southgate CA. command a premium price of 20% - 30% higher on the collector market over the Mark V's stamped Southgate CA. That's just the way it is! If you want a Mark V buy a Sauer, but if you want a real historical preiod Weatherby buy one of Roy's first guns! This is a beautifully restored, Belgium made, Fabrique Nationale-Weatherby in .300 Weatherby Mag in Excellent Condition. Serial # 9861 (All Matching, mfg 1958) This rifle came out of the Southgate CA. Plant were "one off" and 'bespoke' rifles were made in the US. While Sauer of Germany had picked up the balance of production for Roy Weatherby in 1958 and beyond. This rifle sports a traditional shaped Weatherby stock, produced with stunning and highly figured Black Walnut, in their Monte Carlo style with a cheek piece. They embellished the wrist with a wonderfully unique and very functional multi Point wrap-around checkering using a stippled boarder. (this rifle feels great in the hands! The feel of this gun reminds me of my classic German Sporters! It should its a Mauser 98 version) The metal work is perfect, restored after a previous owner's "bloody" hand prints destroyed the original finish. The bore is clean and bright with Weatherby’s deep luster blue on the exterior. The action is topped with Weatherby’s 4x81 “Imperial” scope and the usual Buehler QD mounts, and sling swivel studs are installed fore and aft, while a White Line vented recoil pad brings up the rear! If you bought a Weatherby, factory fitted with optics, it had Buehler mounts and a Weatherby scope, otherwise the local hardware store installed the other brands for the first owner! This is a one of a kind rifle, was built with an Elk Hunter in mind! It’s sleek, balances well, and weighs in at just a tad over 8 lbs scoped! It devours Norma 180gr “spitzers” like a hungry football player on a bowl of spaghetti, and drives tacks like there’s no tomorrow. With graceful lines, tremendous color, clean metal, and sharp optics, she’s a fine “Sporter” designed to give a hunter confidence to “reach out and touch something” really far away! Ditch that plastic gun you are using now and get some fine wood in your hands! You won't regret it! Remember! "God never made an heirloom outta plastic!" If you would like other pictures drop me a line and I will accommodate. It’s a “can’t miss” If you don’t like it, send it back I’ll pay the freight both ways! But you won’t!
