Offered here is a monthly special and just acquired is this fine vintage  post WWII German sporting rifle.
This rifle appears to be a  Weatherby Mark V Deluxe rifle made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn in West Germany for Weatherby during the golden era of Weatherby production.
The Mark V Deluxe was manufactured in West Germany by J.P. Sauer & Sohn and likely built between 1967–1973.
The “P” serial prefix is strongly associated with late West German production Mark V rifles from that era. The serial number P44228 fits well into the late 1960s / early 1970s Sauer-production period.
This specimen has classic  Mark V Deluxe features:

• High-gloss walnut stock
• Skip-line checkering
• Rosewood grip cap and fore-end tip
• Monte Carlo cheekrest
• 27" barrel (common on magnum Weatherbys)
• Fine bluing
• Deluxe styling

The Nikon 3-9x30 riflescope adds value in that Nikon scopes are respected hunting optics with very good glass.
The rifle has seen average use but is mechanically excellent with no cracks, original finish, moderate honest hunting wear , fine bore and West German markings intact
West German Mark V rifles are highly respected and increasingly collectible because many shooters consider the Sauer-made rifles among the finest Weatherbys ever produced.
