Roy Weatherby made his name by producing fine rifles, chambered in proprietary ultra-high velocity magnum cartridges, defying the logic of the time which demanded bigger bullets for more energy on target. We now know that both sides were right, in a sense. Bigger bullets retain velocity and energy better, but lighter bullets, for a given powder load, attain higher energy. In any case, this .270 Wby Mag will deliver velocities of 3,161 ft/s (963 m/s) and energies of 3,329 ft·lbf (4,514 J), using 150 gr (10 g) SBT bullets. That's 3300 fps and 1-1/2 tons, that's a lot of performance. It gets better with 110 gr. bullets as the velocity goes to more 3500 fps and energy to 3000 ft·lbf. Think of it a varmint class performance in a big game bullet. This rifle is in excellent condition with no metal defects to report. The bolt face shows a light setback circle. The rifle , for the most part, looks new. It would be a suitable choice for almost any plains game, or American big game, that you would care to chase. It has a high grade walnut Monte Carlo stock with Rosewood tip and Grip caps. .270 Weatherby Magnum
