British Snider Mk. III Volunteer Rifle by Webley
Description: Serial #2985M, .577 Snider, 36 1/2" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a small amount of freckling within the grooves. This commercially-produced rifle has retained about 50-60% of the original blue along the barrel, with a streaked plum-brown patina on the balance, and gray metal near the muzzle. Visible original color case-hardening remains on the breechblock, with mild freckling and fading on the balance, and a mottled gray-brown patina is present on the hammer and "P. WEBLEY & SON / BIRMINGHAM"-marked lockplate. The brass trigger guard and nosecap have a mild yellow-ochre patina throughout, while the walnut stock has various small handling marks and blemishes in the added military oil finish. No ramrod is present, but a buff leather sling is fitted, and the firing pin protector is still attached via a short chain. The action lock-up is tight and fully functional. This is a very nice Snider Volunteer Rifle in fine condition overall. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Webley Model: Snider Serial Number: 2985M Caliber Info: .577 Gauge Info: .577 |
