Westley Richards .450 Nitro Express
Description: Westley Richards .450 Nitro Express on the Deeley & Edge "Transitional" single shot falling block action described in Wal Winfer's Volume 4 British Single Shot Rifles as the most common variation of the 1873-1878 patent actions. This gun features a 28" half round/half octagon replacement barrel with a "wedding band" at the forend tip. Bore remains as new. Rear sight with one standing and two folding leaves all with Platinum center lines. Blued falling block action with 40% coverage of British scroll engraving. Straight grip buttstock of straight grain walnut. 14 3/8" LOP to a Silver's pad. Wedge release forend with ebony forend tip. Both forend and buttstock are completely solid with no cracks or repairs. Weighs in at 9lb 13oz. Cased in its original canvas, oak, and leather trunk case with brass corners and original trade label. A well preserved piece of the British Empire suitable for Nitro for Black loads. Someone more knowledgeable than I would need to determine suitability for full house nitro loading.
