"Whitney-Howard Thunderbolt .44 (AL4965)

"

Whitney-Howard Thunderbolt .44 caliber rifle. Made 1866-1870. Interesting breech loader with 28" barrel. Bore is very good with strong rifling. The right side of the receiver is marked WHITNEY ARMS CO. WHITNEYVILLE, CONN. and the left is marked C. HOWARD PATENTED with a series of patent dates. Rifle has a tang peep sight. Fair overall condition. The stock got too close to a campfire along the bottom, especially the bottom right where some wood has been burned away. The stock is still solid and serviceable. The action functions correctly.
