James Watson was an expert long range marksman who would shoot in the ""Old Creedmoor"" position (see photo). Barrel is 31.75"" and is half round and half octagonal. Front sight is a wind gauge and tang sight is a5"" Vernier type. Bore is excellent with gain twist and mirror bright. Forend has a fancy nose cap. The butt stock is checkered pistol pistol grip. Receiver nickel plated as is seen in the accompanying phots of Mr. James Watson shooting his rifle in 1877 at the Atlanta rifle club at the age of 90! Anyone would be proud to own this fine and historic rifle.
