Up for sale and just acquired is this fine and original Winchester Model 68 .22 bolt rifle. The Winchester Model 68 is one of Winchester's classic pre-World War II rimfire rifles. It was introduced in 1934 as an upgraded version of the popular Model 67. The principal difference was its factory-installed receiver-mounted aperture (peep) sight, which gave the Model 68 noticeably better accuracy for target shooting and small-game hunting. It was a simple, rugged single-shot bolt-action rifle chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle, with a 27-inch barrel as standard.
Winchester did not serialize these economical .22 rifles, and federal law did not require serial numbers on sporting rifles until 1968 but this specimen was probably made circa 1934 to 1944.

Very Fine (about 85–90% original condition). The Model 68 has become increasingly desirable because it represents Winchester's high-quality Depression-era craftsmanship. Because relatively few survive in high condition, a sound, original example with an excellent bore remains very collectible.
