Winchester 1894 Half Octagon Takedown Carbine 32 Spl w New 25-35 Extra Barrel Assy
Description:
Some old timers have stories to tell: started out as a deluxe takedown rifle half octagon full magazine with factory sling studs. Barrel cut to 20" and the mag tube cut down to a half tube, fitted with a slotted cap. New front sight and a tang sight added with a folding fine aperture, which has been lost so only the coarse aperture is there, as is the original Win rear sight but with a modern elevator. The buttstock was replaced with a walnut stock with shotgun buttplate (unlike the forend, not checkered), without a sling stud (replacement supplied loose). Bore is so-so, rifling worn and grooves dark near breech, gets better toward muzzle, shoots Hornady FPs well. Muzzle crown recently polished. No cracks in wood, checkering faint on forend, buttplate excellent. Now for the exciting bit: a second brand new rust blued custom barrel assembly in 25-35 1:12 (will shoot most cast bullets as well as jacketed up to 100gr ... the factory 25-35 barrels have a very fast twist and won't shoot cast at all) with integral front banded ramp sight comes with the rifle! With this setup you can shoot deer in the mornings and woodchucks in the afternoons.
