Description: #57247, Winchester 45-60 WCF Model 1876 Rifle Third Model Made in 1885, 28" Round Barrel; The bore is excellent plus with very sharp rifling the entire way and is extremely bright and shiny but has very light surface pitting near the muzzle, The Series 21 front sight is a post with a nickel bead, The Series 42 rear sight is a sliding elevator and clearly stamped "1876", Full length magazine with a 12 cartridge capacity (Load it on Sunday & shoot it all week), Crescent buttplate with a sliding trapdoor, Very solid wood that will go another lifetime, 9 lbs. 12 oz., The original barrel blue remains at 45%, The original magazine tube blue is at 40%, The original receiver blue remains at 35% with a nice patina, The stock finish is at 90% with oil added but not sanded, The bore is excellent all the way except light surface pitting at the muzzle, It has a vacant shield escutcheon on the top of the stock line, It apparently was a Police gun as it has an escutcheon on the forend that is marked Police and what appears to be MO with a name that is not very legible. Here is a very solid and nice Model 1876 with an excellent bore. This 1876 has been stored for about 60 years in Northern California.
