Up for consideration here is a very nice Winchester Model 1873 chambered for the .32 Wcf cartridge also known as .32-20. This gun was first manufactured in 1889 and is a survivor of many years since then serving as a hunting rifle. This gun features a 24in Octagonal barrel which has not been cut or modified in any way. The rear sight elevator is complete and the front sight is the correct .916in from the muzzle. Condition is fair. With a majority of the original blue turning to a grey patina. The brass on the bottom of the receiver still has good color and still bears the ".32 wcf" script on it. The receiver and barrel have nicks and small indents throughout, however, these are most likely from use and not from pitting or rusting, of which there is none to bee found. The wood is in good condition with the rear stock having no chips or cracks and retaining great color. The fore end does have a chip out of both sides in the same location, perhaps this gun was made like this but who knows for sure. The bore is dark with light pitting and fair to poor lands and grooves remaining. Despite this, the gun functions flawlessly, with all mechanical functions remaining tight and smooth even the brass elevator. This is a wonderful example of a properly used, and weathered 1873 rifle. After all it was "The gun that won the West" and this gun would look great retired in a collection among-st single actions and coach guns.
