Winchester Centennial 1866 - 1966 Model 94 Saddle Ring Carbine in .30-30 Caliber w/ Factory Artwork Box, Paperwork, Etc.
** Unfired! ** SOLD
Description:
Manufactured in 1966 to celebrate 100 years of the firm's existence, Winchester offered this commemorative Model 94 in both rifle and saddle ring carbine configurations. With a total of just over 100,000 made between both models, this Model 94 featured a gold-finished steel receiver to mimic the first Winchester model, the Model 1866. This example is a Saddle Ring Carbine Model with a blued steel octagon barrel with iron sights that is 20" inches long, with a blued steel hammer, floorplate, trigger, saddle ring, and action lever. The factory gloss finished Walnut stock set has a gold-finished steel buttplate and forend cap. It is a quite attractive carbine, and not gaudy like many other commemoratives from that time period. This example is serial number 91973 and appears to be unfired and in excellent condition. It comes with the correct box covered with Winchester artwork, and all of the paperwork it shipped with including the factory hangtag. As you can see from the pictures, the box is not in great shape at the ends and while the right serial number is handwritten on it, there is no way to know if it is original to this specific gun because of the partial end-label. The original finish on this gun rates 98%, with only some small handling/storage marks visible under close inspection. The worst of these are some very light scratches on the magazine tube (there is a close-up picture of this area provided in the listing). The bore is in mint condition with sharp rifling and no visible imperfections. The factory stock set is in excellent condition. The wood is free from any wear, cracks, or scratches. Interestingly enough, it appears that there is factory "wood filler" in the wood at the top of the buttstock just behind the buttplate. This was apparently deemed minor enough to still be acceptable at this time. Everything on this Model 94 carbine works 100% like the day it left the factory. The action is smooth and tight when worked by hand, and the trigger is quite good for a lever action. The internals are spotless and show no finish or mechanical wear. This Winchester Centennial Model 94 would be a great addition to any Winchester lever action collection, and is priced to sell!
