Description:
#4928 Winchester 1876 OBFMCB factory 26-inch barreled “short rifle”, very early 2nd Variation,
66XX serial range (1878), 45/60WCF with G-VG bore (about a 6-7 on a scale of 10) and VG action. The metal is a smooth plum brown with no pitting of consequence and good markings, G-VG wood, the deficits being that the forearm has a small stress crack as well as the butt stock also having a long crack on the right side running back from the rear tang through the comb. The stock does seem very sound and serviceable, but that is a somewhat prejusticed opinion being as I own the gun! Standard trigger and standard Sporting rear low buckhorn sight. Overall, it has a very
handsome appearance and is a relatively scarce length. About VG/VG+ $2950
