#4962 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB standard Sporting Rifle, 32WCF (32/20) with the rather scarce 26” lightweight barrel configuration which, because being a smaller width barrel, it appears in looks more like the more common 28” length. Surprisingly good bore, about a 7 to 7+ on a scale of 10. Seems most of the 32 and 22caliber Winchesters generally have REALLY crummy bores because they were usually “kids guns” in many cases and there were no proper sized cleaning rods available in the early days for those small caliber guns. Manufactured in 1888 (#271XXX), this rifle is in VERY decent condition. It has liberal thin patina of plummed brown over most of the surface of the smooth metal and has no serious blems. The wood is G-VG as well, but does appear to be slightly undersize at the lower tang and butt plate and also has a few bumps and dings on the butt stock as well. The forearm has a sliver repair on the rear left side and the stock has a filled sling swivel mortise. It is fitted with the accessory Marbles post style tang sight and Beeches flip-up ring front sight and has the low buckhorn style rear barrel sight as well. Standard trigger. All-in-all, a really above average and very handsome 125-year old Winchester with a nice bore, neat sights, and tight smooth action. $2850
