Winchester 2nd Model 1873 Rifle 44-40 cal Bore VG has a strong rifling with some fine pitting. Mech Exc works well with a tight action showing little use. Wood is VG stock is near exc with good wood to metal fit and has the correct buttplate with compartment. The forend has some wear but fits good to the metal with no cracks or chips. Has an original 24” Oct barrel and full mag with excellent Winchester address and patent date markings and has period Winchester style small buckhorn sights. No cal marking correct for a 2nd model Rifle. The receiver has an original dust cover and marked Model 1873 on the top tang and the serial# 86494 Mfg’d 1882 on the bottom tang and overall has VG screw heads. Metal overall has an aged grey patina finish with traces of some fine pitting mainly near the muzzle.
