EXTREMELY RARE VARIATION MODEL 94 CARBINE, .25-35 CALIBER, #1091XXX, MADE 1933
Description: EXTREMELY RARE VARIATION MODEL 94 CARBINE, .25-35 CALIBER, #1091XXX, MADE THE WORST YEAR OF THE GREAT DEPRESSION IN 1933! This is a transition carbine that was made before World War II when production was very light because of the terrible economic conditions in the U.S. It retains the curved steel carbine butt and long forend ahead of the barrel band of the earlier carbines, but has the ramped front sight without provision for hood with buckhorn rear sight and no saddle ring of the later guns. In this year of limited sales, only a bit over 1,000 '94s were made by Winchester compared to almost 30,000 made in 1927! These transition carbines don't turn up too often. This example in scarce .25-35 caliber (most during this time were .30 WCF) is in particularly fine condition with excellent deep barrel and mag blue, original sights and crisp markings. The receiver also retains fine blue that is starting to mix with a little plum and shows minor edge wear only. The bolt retains excellent deep blue. Even the upper tang shows good blue. Fine blue on most of the lever and butt plate (with usual light wear on the high/low portion). Even the barrel band shows fine blue. Exc. walnut stock and forend show very light handling only with very tight wood to metal fit. Fine screw heads and an excellent bright bore and tight action with strong safety half cock. A very rare variation that collectors are only now becoming aware of! Deisrable scarce caliber and really fine condition.
