EXCELLENT CONDITION 1886 TAKEDOWN RIFLE, .33 WCF, #139XXX, MADE 1906. A really fine example that retains most of the deep receiver blue with only some wear to the bottom and some on the bolt. Upper tang and receiver ring shows fine blue. 24” barrel and half magazine tube show about all the deep blue. Buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and Lyman half-moon with ivory bead front sight. Even the forend cap retains fine blue. Exc. butt stock with correct Winchester embossed hard rubber butt plate, exc. forearm. Fitted with correct sling-eye swivels that look to be factory- in the correct position on the butt stock and in the forend cap. Exc. screw heads, tight takedown, tight action, tight wood to metal fit, exc. sharp bore. The .33 WCF was introduced in 1902 and is simply the .45-70 case necked down to accept .338 bullets. It was the only smokeless cartridge made for the Model ‘86 and is a powerful round. This 119 year old 1886 is exceptional.
