FINE CONDITION MODEL 53 IN RARE .32-20 CALIBER, MADE IN 1927!
Description: SCARCE MODEL 53 IN RARE .32-20 CALIBER, MADE THE YEAR LINDBERGH MADE THE FIRST TRANS-ATLANTIC FLIGHT IN 1927! The standard caliber for the M-53 was .25-20 with relatively few made in .32-20 and even less in .44-40. This example shows excellent barrel blue with buckhorn rear sight showing patent date of 1927 and Lyman blade bead front sight- both appear original and unchanged, receiver retains nice blue on the left side mixing/ageing plum and the receiver that appears deeper toward the back section with the balance thinning/mixing plum and a little brown, also plum & brown, fine deep blue on the bolt and in all protected areas, exc. screws, perfect bright bore, exc. wood that has a bit of fancy grain on the comb of the butt stock with most finish remaining, original steel butt plate, a really sharp example that unfortunately was a casualty of the Great Depression and discontinued in 1932 with only 15,118 being made! Becoming a very difficult model to find.
