VERY FINE CONDITION 1873 .32-20 OCTAGON RIFLE, #531XXX, WITH FACTORY LETTER, SHIPPED 1899
Description: VERY FINE CONDITION 1873 .32-20 OCTAGON RIFLE, #531XXX, WITH FACTORY LETTER, SHIPPED 1899. This 1873 has a really attractive appearance as it retains about all the blue on the receiver that is just starting to "soften" and mix lightly with some plum. Fine deep barrel blue that like the receiver is showing some light plum mixing. The mag tube blue has naturally aged a little more than the barrel and receiver and shows a similar soft blue to plum finish. All markings are sharp and the barrel retains the original buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact along with a "Jack" front sight- half moon with ivoryd bead. Wood is generally excellent with good wood to metal fit and may have been very lightly cleaned at some point. Correct butt plate without trap as used on the .32-20 rifles and carbines. Tight action with strong safety half-cock on the hammer. Original dust cover intact. Bore is a little dark with good rifling all the way through and needs a good clean as it looks like there is still some gunk/leading toward the middle of the bore- I ran a brush and a couple of patches through it and they came out black and showed improvement. Factory/Cody letter shows this rifle's serial number was applied April 7, 1899, was received in the warehouse September 13, 1899 and shipped on September 19, 1899. Overall a really nice and attractive 125 year old 1873. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .32-20 Winchester Manufacturer: WINCHESTER Model: 1873 oct. rifle Serial Number: 531XXX Barrel Length: 24 Condition: FINE+ |
