VERY UNUSUAL, GREAT DEPRESSION 1894 20" OCT. SHORT RIFLE, .30WCF, #1125XXX, MADE 1937
Description: VERY UNUSUAL, LATE GREAT DEPRESSION ERA 1894 20" OCT. SHORT RIFLE, .30WCF, #1125XXX, MADE 1937! This is an extremely rare rifle and variation. Generally, Winchester discontinued the 1894 RIFLE in 1924 with the introduction of the Model 55. The carbine stayed in the line, of course, but rifles were built mainly using up parts left over. This 20" short rifle has the correct 1 inch shorter 8 3/8" forearm (standard length was 9 3/8") used on thes shorter than standard rifles. It also has the late barrel stamping of "-MODEL 94 -WINCHESTER- NICKEL STEEL- 30 WCF-" etc. The upper tang also has the correct late markings. Fine blue on the receiver sides with thinning mostly at the edges and exc. deep blue on the bolt and loading gate. The receiver botttom is silvering. Still much original blue on the lever- late levers were blued instead of case colored like earlier guns. Exc. screws, 1927 patented buckhorn rear sight with blade/bead front sight. Tight action with strong safety half-cock. Exc. butt stock and forearm- one wear spot on the right side of the forearm below the barrel in the middle- minor. Stock and forearm may have had some stock finish added, but not sanded. Tight wood to metal fit. Exc. bright bore. Short rifles are scarce from any era, but a 20" octagon barrel one made in 1937 is about unheard of! A great variation and super rare. SOLD Rifle Caliber: .30-30 Winchester Manufacturer: WINCHESTER Model: 1894 SHORT RIFLE Serial Number: 1125XXX Barrel Length: 20" OCT. Condition: FINE+ Bore Condition: EXCELLENT |
