THIS CARBINE, SERIAL NUMBER 855634, WAS MANUFACTURED IN 1919 AND HAS A "RACK NUMBER" IMPRESSED IN THE STOCK WHICH WAS TYPICAL MARKINGS FOR PRISON AND LAW ENFORCEMENT WEAPONS OF THE TIME.
THE OWNER OF THIS CARBINE WAS MY WIFE'S GRANDFATHER WHO WAS A GAME WARDEN IN PENNSYLVANIA IN THE EARLY 1900S. HE REGULARLY PURCHASED SURPLUS GUNS FROM PA AND NY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES DURING HIS LIFETIME.
THIS CARBINE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION SHOWING "HONEST WEAR" FROM OVER 100+ YEARS OF USE. BLUING IS 90% ON THE BARREL AND MAGAZINE AND ABOUT 50-60% ON THE RECEIVER. THE BORE IS BRIGHT AND SHINEY AND SHOWS NO VISIBLE PITTING.
