#4771 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB, 44WCF with a rather poor bore
Description: #4771 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB, 44WCF with a pretty crummy bore (barely a 3-4 on a scale of 10, having some medium to heavy wear, scattered gopher-hole pitting and sewer pipe scale ....but still looking like it might spin a bullet for shorter distances (like about 3-6 feet with some possible accuracy) but on the good side, it has a smooth tight action. Probably the best thing that can be said is that the bullet WILL exit the barrel, and after that, who knows?? Serial numbered in the 142XXX range (1884). The exterior of this rifle has a very smooth plummed brown patina with some faint traces (emphasis on the word “faint”!) of plum-blue around the sideplates and protected areas and the metal overall is otherwise crisp-edged and devoid of any serious pitting (just some minor freckling here and there), damage, or major blemishes. The buttstock and forearm are well above average with no serious chips or slivers except for the one chip at the forearm cap as photographed; overall about VG-VG+ except for the very weak bore. Standard semi-buckhorn rear sight and standard “pinched blade” front sight. Nothing rare or wonderful, but this is just a decent 134 year old Winnie in better-than-average exterior condition and would be a good candidate for a barrel reline job. About VG-VG+ as described. $1695 SOLD Antique: Yes |
