Description: CLASSIC 1873 .44-40 OCTAGON RIFLE, MADE 1888, this one came out of right ere in Montana, a nice unmessed with example with original buckhorn rear sight and Winchester blade front sight, receiver is uncleaned and has turned an attractive plum/brown patina, mellow brass lifter with caliber markings, barrel and mag are a very aged blue turned plum/brown, generally fine+ stock and forend with good wood to metal fit, one hairline crack coming back from the upper tang for 1 1/2 inches or so and goes nowhere- minor, fine action, original dust cover intact, bore shows rifling throughout but is pitted, overall a very attractive and unaltered early 1873.
