SPECIAL ORDER Winchester Model 1873 3rd Model 44 WCF Rifle
Description: Winchester Model 1873 3rd model rifle manufactured in 1886, serial number 202550, in the desirable caliber 44 WCF aka 44-40 with special order 30" full octagon barrel 6" longer than standard and a special order set trigger. All other features (full magazine, plain walnut stocks, crescent butt with trap door butt plate, blued finish) are standard. Copy of factory letter included with the rifle confirms features and shows order #/shipping information (see last picture). CONDITION: All metal surfaces are a mix of patina and gray. Rifle retains about 5% of its original blue finish. No traces of case colors remain on the hammer, lever, butt plate or fore end cap. Stocks show expected nicks and dings from 134 years of use. Action works perfectly, including the half cock safety and the set trigger. Bore is very good with well-defined rifling, no bulges, no deep pits, and no craters, of course having typical light black powder oxidation. Rifle has been test-fired and shoots very good groups at 25 yards. Sights are Winchester semi-buckhorn rear and Rocky Mountain front. No cleaning rods in butt; sliding door operates properly without sticking. Original dust cover is tight with no wobble or play. Bottom of fore arm wood, just forward of receiver, is slightly dished from many long hours riding over a saddle. Overall grades NRA Antique Good and has that Western flair the collectors love. Will make a nice collector and shooter rifle (using the proper ammo!) for someone who wants a special order Model 1873 in the right caliber. TERMS: No international sales. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Please be aware of what is legal in your state. 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. Payment by bank check, personal check or money order. All major credit cards accepted with 4% convenience fee added. Shipping will be USPS Priority Mail with tracking and insurance. Always interested in used long guns and used antique handguns so please contact me if you have anything for sale or trade. 315.251.4799 with questions or concerns.
