Winchester 1873 2nd Model 44-40 inscribed G.W.Weymouth Merrimac Mass

Winchester 1873 44-40 2nd Model rifle,24" octagon barrel with very nice bore,very good markings,good bluing under the patina,checkered stocks with quite a bit of original finish,the second models with the dust cover rail were made until 1880-81 in the 80,000-90,000 serial # range,the early 1873s were prone to have trigger problems that required their replacement from Winchester,this must be one of those and is numbered #326105B,the receiver has the holes for the second model trigger pin and screw which is not used with the later trigger. The loading block is inscribed G.W.Weymouth,Merrimac,Mass.George Weymouth was born in West Amesbury(soon after renamed Merrimac)Massachusetts Auguat 25th 1850.He was involved in a variety of successfull business ventures and was elected to the U.S.House of Representatives from Massachusetts 4th disctrict in 1897.This rifle has very good condition and is a nice historical example of a 140 year old 1873.
