Description:
Standard 24 inch full octagon barrel chambered in 44 WCF caliber with a good shiny bore that shows strong rifling with some roughness in the grooves. Sights include a German silver blade front and sporting rear with a thick base combination tang sight. Barrel and full length magazine tube are a plum/brown with traces of blue in the protected areas. Receiver has about 25% thinning blue blue with the balance fading to gray. Coarse thumbprint dust cover. Hammer and lever have traces of case colors. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock appear to have been lightly sanded are a dark color. The wood shows the usual handling mars and dings from many years of use. This early First Model Winchester was made in 1879.
