This is a special order Winchester rifle in 38-40 with single set trigger. It has a 24" octagon barrel with buck horn rear sight and a short brass blade front sight. It has standard walnut stocks and features a single set trigger.

Condition:
The condition of this antique Winchester 1873 rifle is very good overall with some original finish, brown patina on the balance, spotting throughout. The bore is bright and is lightly frosted and shows some light pitting in places with strong rifling. The stocks have been lightly gone over at some point but are in fine condition with some dings and scratches from use over time. This rifle comes with a special order single set trigger, which when the rifle is at full cock can be set by pushing the trigger forward. The adjustment is made by a small set screw on the right side and behind the trigger. The screw heads are generally good with some showing turn wear. The sights are buck horn barrel sight and short brass blade on the front. The front sight appears to be modified and was brazed in the past. The legends are good for the most part with the address showing some wear. The toggle links are in great condition and are not cracked which is common with these rifles. The rifle cycles well from the magazine and locks up tight on a round and has a positive ejection.

The rifle was shot three times cycling from the magazine and using the set trigger and using smokeless ammunition. The rifle was accurate out to 50 yards hitting what was aimed at. Although this was a function firing and no attempt was made to determine accuracy. 

This rifle was manufactured in 1881 and is an honest example of the iconic Winchester 1873. Being an antique, this rifle can be shipped direct to the buyer.
