WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 RIFLE WITH 32 INCH OCTAGON BARREL IN 32 WCF
Description:
Special order 32 inch extra length octagon barrel chambered in 32 WCF caliber with a good bore. Sights include a German silver blade front with a typical sporting rear. Barrel retains most original thinning blue toning to plum in areas. Full length magazine tube with two hangers is a plum/brown with good blue in the protected areas. Receiver has thinning blue with splotches of light surface spotting/oxidation. There are faint traces of case colors on the hammer and lever as well as traces of niter blue on the loading gate. The re-oiled walnut stock set is in very good condition with numerous scattered minor dings and scratches. Crescent rifle style buttplate. Mechanically excellent. Made in 1890. Factory letter included. This rifle is an example of a Winchester Model 1873 rifle that was special ordered with the extra length 32 inch octagon barrel but the barrel length is not mentioned in the factory records. The rifle shows no evidence of the barrel ever being off the gun. I can only assume the lack of mention was an oversight by the factory. Everything appears to be as it left the factory. These 32 inch 1873's don't come up for sale very often. A rare gun that is sure to fill a hole in your collection!
