RARE Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall Takedown Rifle in .22 WCF with Factory Letter Winchester Tool Ammunition Mfd 1911
Description: Another “ESTATE” firearm listing brought to you from Dust 2 Dollars who prides themselves on showing the complete gun in high quality pictures along with a detailed description for your consideration. We offer you a “RARE” Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall “Takedown” Sporting Rifle chambered in .22 WCF with the Factory Letter, tool and ammunition. Model 1885 low wall takedown rifles are one of the hardest configurations to be found. This one according to the factory letter was shipped May 26, 1911 making it a tad over 110 years old. From the information contained in the letter the rifle is in original configuration except the rear sight is missing and the Weaver scope mount and scope being added as shown. The 28 inch barrel shows strong rifling with light pitting the full length and gray in color. The receiver appears to be refinished with the bluing being in fine condition. The stocks are solid without cracks, chips or repairs. The varnish has an old dark and crinkled look to it. The takedown functions just fine with the lever being a little stiff at the first to open. With the rifle is an original Winchester reloading tool that is complete with the decapping pin as shown. Along with some W.R.A. Co. factory ammunition and others as you can see. This ammunition is for display only and we DO NOT recommend its use. The rear tang is marked “PAT. OCT. 7th 79”, the bottom with the serial number “106441” with an “A” at the rear of the tang. The left side of the barrel is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO.” / NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCT. 7. 79. MAY. 28. 07.”. Under the scope mount the barrel is marked “22 WCF” with the “PW” proof at the top with the matching proof on the top of the receiver. SALE PENDING!
