Description:
This is a Winchester Model 1885, Low Wall single shot, chambered in the less common .22 Short. It was built in 1919, these were excellent full size rifles, with the weight of a military rifle, great for traning young shooters. The action functions perfectly, the bore is good with strong pronounced rifling, it has some wear and minor marks, but may clean up better. The hammer holds properly at half and full cock with a strong spring. The receiver was reblued at some earlier time, and retains almost all of that reapplied finish. The lettering is still very legible. The wood is very good, solid, nice looking. There is a very small, old chip at the front left nose cap. The Lyman sight gives an excellent sight picture, is fully adjustable and works properly. Overall a very decent rifle, a good shooter at a reasonable price. ***** This is a modern gun, it must ship to a FFL, C&R okay. I am a FFL and must comply with all local shipping laws. Shipping includes insurance. Check or certified funds preferred. ***** Thanks
