1886 WINCHESTER RIFLE
Description:
Cal 40-82. Oct bbl, full length mag tube and crescent butt plate. This looks like a well used gun but has been well taken care of. Case colored receiver has turned the normal antique grey/brown patina. Bbl still has quite a bit of turning blue remaining and has been shortened about 1/2". The mag tube is also a medium brown. It has a period replacement sight and a homemade front blade sight insert made of a coin or token. The butt stock has some nice extra figure wood that sports a big ugly screw in the wrist area presumably an old frontier repair. Repair is nice and solid. The fit is pretty good to upper and lower tang and also to the frame. This is an old gun and was likely done 100+ years ago. The forearm also displays some extra figure wood and is in VG cond with usage marks but no cracks or losses. This is actually a good looking old rifle!
