Antique 1886 Winchester. 45-90 Octagon Barrel. Very Good Bore. Excellent Mechanics.
Description: SOLD...Antique 1886 Winchester. Here is a very nice 1886 Winchester in the very sought after 45-90 caliber. Cody work sheet matches the gun and will be included in the sale. Has the standard 26" octagon barrel. S/N 43000 and made in 1890. The bore is very good and mostly bright with some light roughness. Very stong rifling and NO rings or bulges. The mechanics are excellent. It feeds, fires and ejects perfectly. The metal is excellent and is a medium brown patina with NO pitting. All the markings are excellent. The barrel has the initials FWB on the lower flat of the barrel on the left side right in front of the forearm cap. It was done long ago and was professionally done. {see photo}.. The receiver has a couple very light scratches on the left side that do not detract from the gun at all. Just normal handling scratches is all. It still has the original front and rear sights. The wood is excellent on this gun. The forearm has NO spits or cracks and fits tight and proud to the metal. Not all scratched and dings up either. Never sanded on or messed with. The butt stock is the same and fits tight and proud to the metal. Has one very small ding on the right side as you can see in the photo. It even fits tight to the butt plate. VERY nice wood on this gun and nothing ever messed with. Has excellent color and not oil soaked as many you will find. The screw heads are clean and not burred up. This is a very nice and all correct example of the famed 1886. It is in the very sought after 45-90 caliber with octagon barrel and a fine bore. It is also priced very reasonable and would be priced a bit higher if not for the initials on the barrel. I just have to deduct the price because of the very picky collectors out there. It does not detract at all to me but I can't speak for everyone else so it is priced right.. Shop around and compare condition to prices and you will see this one will not last long. $50 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. This is a nice one so don't miss it. Most of my guns sell rather quickly. Please check out my other items will you are here. I will be listing many more. Thank you for looking. SOLD Antique: Yes |
