RARE EXTRA LONG Winchester Model 1886 40-82 Rifle, Antique, With Provenance
Description: Rare extra long Winchester Model 1886 rifle in caliber 40-82 having a factory 30" full octagon barrel, 4" longer than standard. Of the 159,996 total guns of this model, only 7,762 had barrels of any length longer than standard, and only 1,974 had 30" barrels. All other features are standard - rifle butt, full magazine, plain trigger. Cody email sheet shows serial number 13111 was applied on January 16, 1888, confirms the configuration, with a warehouse and ship date of January 18, 1888 to order number 4004. An official factory letter has been ordered, and both the email sheet and factory letter will be mailed to the purchaser. CONDITION: Barrel and mag tube retain 60% coverage of the original finish, which has turned plum with some traces of brighter blue underneath. The original case hardened receiver has mostly silvered out but does retain about 15% near the back of the receiver/on lower tang/on hammer and lever. Stocks are still tight and even with the metal all around; sound with no splits, no cracks, no extra holes, never sanded or refinished, with most of the original finish intact. Action is smooth. Half cock safety functions as it should. Sights are original. Bore is good, about a 7 of 10, with consistent rifling, scattered light black powder use, no bulges, no rings, no craters. I have shot this rifle - it feeds, fires and ejects as it should. All said, it grades NRA Antique Very Good and is a must-have for your Winchester collection. SHIPPING: Shipping to the Continental US States will be a flat $60 due to the size and weight of this item, with insurance optional and additional if requested. We are registered with the CA DOJ and will ship to California! TERMS: No international sales and no sales to Alaska or Hawaii. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Please know what is legal for your state (for example, residents of NY City must have this ship to an FFL). 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. Payment by bank check, money order or personal check; all major credit cards are accepted with a 4% convenience fee added. Ships by UPS Ground with tracking.
