This very nice rifle has a 28 inch octagon barrel, a single set trigger and 3 X wood with a crescent butt plate. The letter confirms the LYMAN HUNTING front sight and shows the date of shipping as 13 October, 1892. There is a small repair to the right rear corner of the fore-end, which is barely noticable. The barrel has been professionally relined to a 1 in 18 twist and will easily stabilize 500 grain bullets. The standard 300 grain load, however, is accurate and very comfortable to shoot and is more than sufficient for most North American game. As you can see, the case colors and barrel blue have turned mostly an attractive plum gray and the stock may have had a coat of varnish at one time. There is a small "W" about 5/8 of an inch tall scratched on right right side of the receiver above the loading gate screw. The rifle is in excellent condition (the set trigger functions as it should) and is ready for its next deer, elk or moose hunt. Weight is 10 lbs 1 oz empty.
