Description: Winchester Model 1886 24" Round Barrel 33WCF
This is a Winchester Model 1886 with a 24" round barrel it is fitted with a Lyman 56 peep sight, Buck Horn barrel sight, and a brass bead front sight. The butt stock is walnut with a crescent butt plate and the fore arm is walnut with a steel fore end cap.
Condition:
This Winchester Model 1886 in 33WCF is in fine condition overall. The metal surfaces retain the vast majority of the refurbished blue with a mixed gray/brown patina on the balance with some light edge wear. There are some small places that show some minor oxidation and pitting. The legends are sharp and clear and the screw heads are in fine shape with only a few showing some turn wear. The Lyman 56 peep sight is in fine condition with some light edge wear that would not affect its use. The barrel sights are good with the buck horn barrel sight showing some considerable use. The walnut stocks are fine with some scratches. This Winchester is in mechanically excellent condition ready to be used.
The 33WCF cartridge was developed by Winchester in the early 1900's to take advantage of the new smokeless powders in the Model 1886 rifles. It was manufactured between 1902 through 1940. Using s 200 grain bullet it could deliver & exceed over 2000 f/s velocities. The Winchester 1886 rifle with its 24" round barrel in 33WCF is light weight, easy to carry, is a good caliber for deer, elk, or black bear in wooded terrain at medium range.
